Lucas Almeida made a statement in his UFC debut. The featherweight match-up saw the Contender Series fighter go up against American mixed martial artist Mike Trizano. This UFC Vegas 56 bout produced some impressive back-and-forth action as both continued to slug it out until the finish in round 3.

Lucas Almeida may have secured a tremendous knockout in the third, but his pathway to victory wasn’t easy. In the consecutive rounds, both men secured a massive knockdown against one another. While Trizano earned the opening knockdown, it was Almedia who opened up a massive gash in the second round, marking the beginning of the end for the American.

The final minutes of the match-up indeed worked against the American mixed martial artist, as Almeida landed a flush KO punch to finish the fight. Definitely, fatigue played a big role that caused Trizano’s recovery to be hampered significantly.

The bleeding didn’t help his case either, as the second round completely flipped the script of the matchup.

This fight will probably win the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus, as a fantastic comeback from behind deserves the $50k reward.

Almeida not only capitalized on the opportunity but has stamped his name as a member of the featherweight division. The Brazilian has vowed to clear the 145 lbs roster by any means and this just might be a start of a spectacular run.

It simply doesn’t get any bigger than this, and Almeida proved his doubters wrong.

The bout received the ‘Fight of the Night’ honor.

The underrated fight card delivered amazing finish after finish.

His toughness and never say die attitude earned him a memorable victory that fans will not soon forget.

UFC President Dana White must be quite happy with the result as he gave the Brazilian another chance despite losing in the Contender Series. A new star is on the rise, and the featherweight division could use more fan favorites.
