The rising UFC superstar and number 3 welterweight fighter, Khamzat Chimaev made a serious statement in his last bout at UFC 273. The 27-year-old mixed martial artist made a rapid jump into the top ranking by going head-to-head against Gilbert Burns. The Wolf managed to clear this test with flying colors and proved himself to be the next major contender for the 170lbs title.

In a recent interview with Hustle MMA podcast, the Swedish fighter shed light on all things related to fighting and including Mike Tyson. Not so long ago, the legendary boxer showcased his interest in the UFC star and also extended an invitation to his podcast.

Chimaev hasn’t really accepted the invite just yet, but he believes that Tyson is not like him.

Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t think Mike Tyson shares the same killer instinct

When quizzed about sharing the same killer instinct, Chimaev retorted by stating that, unlike Tyson, he was never scared before a fight. However, he also praised the retired boxer for his legendary run and the immense skill he possesses as a boxer.

Chimaev also stated the key difference that separates the two,” He said that he was scared before the fights, But I never was, that’s the difference. But surely he was a better boxer than I am. He’s a boxing legend and I am still a novice.”

The Swedish fighter has only faced one top-rated opponent in his short run with the promotion. With just 5 fights under his belt and an unbeaten record, Chimaev still has a long road to tread. The UFC star has already stated that he is gunning for not just one but two UFC titles at 170 and 185 lbs. Both divisions currently house the champions, Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya, originating from Nigeria.
