UFC featherweight Giga Chikadze spoke to MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin in the lead-up to his clash at UFC Vegas 46. The Georgian fighter is slated to face Calvin Kattar in the UFC’s first return back to the screen after a long hiatus. Both men are ranked inside the top 10 and are aiming to make a run towards the gold strap.

Chiefly, divisional champion Alexander Volkanovski’s scheduled opponent Max Holloway fell out of their contest. Several fighters put their best foot forward and Chikadze vehemently called out Volkanovski to be Holloway’s replacement. However, Alexander ‘The Great’ and the UFC brass went in another direction, leaving Chikadze to wait out his title shot.

Giga Chikadze fires on all cylinders

Giga Chikadze slammed Alexander Volkanovski in his recent interview after ‘Volk’ decided to set aside his call-out. Chikadze claimed that he’s the hardest fight for Volkanovski and said that he’s on his way to becoming the champion. It’s clear that Giga Chikadze is backing himself in a potential title clash with Alexander Volkanovski.

“I’ve been fighting this type of guys like all my life and making my life with that. He knows I’m for him like the hardest and strongest fight. That’s why he’s trying to avoid me. I understand, he wants to stay safe and make money and this. But I’m here to become a champion. I feel like I’m ready to take over everything and I will take over everything.”

Honestly, for me, I think that’s the easiest fight in the top 10. This guy cannot even reach me. When we stand together like what he’s going to do. Some guys have a good submission, some guys have a good punch or good technique. What he has against me? Nothing.”

It’s clear that Chikadze believes he is superior no matter where a potential fight against Volkanovski would end up. However, he will first have to get past Calvin Kattar, which is sure to be a mammoth task in itself. Kattar has been a notoriously difficult fighter to put away and Giga Chikadze will need to put on an absolute clinic.
