UFC San Antonio saw two of the top bantamweight contenders in Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen battle it out in a five-rounder that saw the latter get his hands raised after a dominant win. Present in the crowd was the champ Aljamain Sterling and his close aide and number one ranked 135er Merab Dvalishvili as well. Not surprising too; considering that the duo share a great chemistry, with them even choosing not to fight each other for the coveted bantamweight gold.

While this might be a sign of the outstanding friendship that the two share, some fans do not believe that it’s the ideal manner to approach one’s career in the sport. A fan, expressing this exact idea, surprisingly called out Dvalishvili while the fighter was signing autographs. The events that followed were considered peak entertainment, with the video clip of it even going viral on social media.

Merab Dvalishvili gets heckled by a fan asking him to fight Aljamain Sterling

As the Georgian took his time to sign autographs for fans, an individual was heard shouting at him and Sterling. Asking him to fight the champ, this man almost appeared to be heckling Dvalishvili to the point where the fighter ended up trying to get up close to him. Shockingly, the bantamweight contender climbed up the stand in order to confront this fan.

Dvalishvili gets called out by Cory Sandhagen following the latter’s win

Despite holding the number one spot in the division, Dvalishvili’s choice to not fight Sterling means the 32-year-old fighter has to look out for another opponent. And Cory Sandhagen’s win couldn’t have come at a much better point in time.

By calling out the Georgian after his win, Sandhagen ensured that the division was not held up unnecessarily for an undue amount of time. This also gives the likes of Dvalishvili the option to stay active while Sterling defends his title.
