While Valentina Shevchenko may have failed to acquire that title, her run at flyweight is nothing short of legendary.

‘The Bullet’ has already secured a great streak of victories at 125lbs and is currently unbeaten in the said division. Her red hot win-streak of 8 fights and continual domination has once again brought her closer to the 135lbs title.
Valentina Shevchenko is eyeing double UFC champion status
Speaking with Ariel Helwani in the MMA Hour, Shevchenko was quizzed about her next title defense against Taila Santos and her thoughts about 135 lbs. ‘The Bullet’ seemed quite excited about her future and hasn’t ruled out her return to bantamweight.
Shevchenko said,” I think so. There is also always a chance, there is always a chance and definitely the bigger fight, the better, right?”

She still believes 125lbs weight class has a lot to offer.” Yeah, I think at the end of this year, it is gonna be a good fight. But also we have to see, Miesha Tate is coming to 125, it’s in July, many things can happen.”

Her run at 135lbs didn’t lack anywhere, but her two run-ins against former champion Amanda Nunes killed her chances of acquiring the title. But the tides have turned at that weight class, as Julianna Pena defied all odds to submit Nunes at UFC 269. This opens up the doors for Shevchenko to once again campaign for double champ status.
Julianna Pena still has to get past Nunes once again to book this super fight with ‘The Bullet’. Penna has suffered a grueling second-round armbar loss back in 2017 and she would love to exact revenge.

But before these marquee match-ups can come to fruition, the mixed martial artist has a tough challenge waiting for Taila Santos. The Brazilian fighter is riding a wave of a 4-fight win streak and has an impressive record of 19-1-0.
