Many suspected that this was a power move by the music-sharing platform in a bid to remove longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan from the platform. Fans reacted hysterically to the news and shared their opinions on Twitter.

LA Times reported that this weird ‘technical glitch’ appeared because of a power outage. However, the repercussions were high for Spotify, as it saw a dip in its share value a day later.

The day after the podcast was inaccessible, international news agency Reuters reported Spotify shares fell over 5%.

“Spotify Technology’s (SPOT.N) shares fell 5% on Friday after Joe Rogan’s podcast was briefly not accessible on the company’s streaming platform.” reported Reuters.
Although the podcast is accessible now, Spotify surely had to suffer for what they claim as a ‘technical glitch’ that stemmed out of a ‘power outage’. Prior to this incident, the Spotify top brass commented that they were not going to cancel Rogan out of discontent as he has editorial freedom.
