A fan asked Khabib about Poirier’s condition after the fight at UFC 269. He tried to explain his thoughts in simple language, to make the fan understand him better. He compared Poirer’s hunger to that of a man who starts his own business. “ In the beginning, he is on fire. He is moving forward, his business is developing. But after comes a time when he goes out. He wants to withdraw money and start a new business,” he explained.

Khabib went on to say,” The same thing could happen with the fighter. There is a fire, a hunger. There is a time when you want it very much. Then comes a time when you still want, but not so hard. It happened (to Poirier) when the fire went out, but there are still numbers in a contract.”

Nurmagomedov feels that Dustin has lost the fire he had inside of him when he first started off as a professional fighter.

What’s next for Dustin Poirier?

There is no doubt that Poirier was extremely disappointed following his recent loss against Oliveira. In his entire career as a professional fighter, Poirier has chased the championship title. However, this was his second shot and second loss in a title fight.

Recently there have been speculations that we might see Poirier move up a weight class and take on Colby Covington next. Covington is very keen on taking on Poirier and has been taking shots at him for quite some time now.
