Dustin Poirier is on his way to the hardest challenge of his life. After the biggest win of his career against Conor McGregor at UFC 257. ‘The Diamond’ is all set to clash against the Irishman for the third in the biggest trilogy fight of the year at UFC 264.

The American native has always been ready to accept hard challenges in his professional MMA career. He has had some of the gruesome fights in his UFC career. However, Poirier has proved himself in many such big fights in his journey.

In an interview, ‘The Diamond’ talked about one of his nastiest fights in which he hurt his nose badly. While remembering his fight against Joe Duffy at UFC 195 he said,I think I might have changed my shirt or something like that.

“My wife took this picture. She came we had to go to the hospital. She can’t meet me at the back like one of the doctor’s tents they set up at the event.”

“The ground was like a pool of blood. My nose was broken really bad in a couple of spots kind of crush at the top. Since then I have had to have two nose surgeries. I have a cadaver, the bridge of my nose has a cadaver rib from somebody.

“This is what happens when you fight, I mean, you know. Hopefully, it doesn’t sometimes you come out unscathed, but you know broken nose cuts stitches that’s I expect stuff like that.”

Never turning down a challenge inside the octagon has led him to the top of the lightweight roster. The American fighter has won the UFC interim lightweight title once. However, he is yet to lay hands on the UFC lightweight gold.

The former UFC interim lightweight champion is one of the best fighters on the roster. The (27-6-1) record holder has 14 wins via knockout under his name. He is a submission expert with 6 wins via submission.

‘The Diamond’ has only one loss in his previous nine matches. He unified his interim lightweight belt for a title bout against the then champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, The American fighter lost the title bout against the Russian native.

‘The Eagle’ has retired from the UFC now. However, the Brazilian champion Charles Oliveira reigns in the lightweight roster. Meanwhile, ‘The Diamond’ is currently #1 in the division which makes the road to the title wide open for him. All he needs to do is secure a win over Conor McGregor at UFC 264.
