UFC commentator Joe Rogan is a big celebrity. The former Fear Factor host already had a big name coming into the martial arts world. The actor/ standup comic became bigger than ever when he started his own podcast. The Joe Rogan Experience was an anomaly as it saw success beyond imagination. But it was not only big for the 55-year-old Rogan, but even for the guests that came on the show. One of his guests spoke about the impact an appearance on the show made for him.

A Brazilian comic artist Rafinha Bastos detailed how former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum helped him get on the show. Bastos appeared on the JRE episode #1243.

On the Trocação Franca podcast, the Brazilian said, “I have to thank Werdum; It [Bastos appearing on the JRE podcast] only happened because he connected me with Joe Rogan. I’ve been trying to be on Rogan’s podcast for a long time, but couldn’t get it done.”

‘Vai Cavalo’ is one of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time and one of the greatest jiu-jitsu practitioners in MMA. The Brazilian legend is a friend of Bastos and after the comedian reached the heavyweight icon, he connected him with Rogan.

The Youtuber said, “Being on Joe Rogan’s show [JRE podcast] really changed my story here in the United States.”

While Bastos was on the JRE show, he shocked Joe Rogan with a piece of information that the 55-year-old didn’t have.

The conversation between the UFC announcer and Brazilian comic artist from JRE #1243 started with Rogan saying, “You’re one of the pioneers of standup comedy in Brazil.”

The guest told how he and a few other comic artists started doing standup gigs in 2002-2003. Bastos also revealed Jim Gaffigan and Brian Regan as his inspirations.

Rogan said, “It’s so crazy that it took that long for it to get to Brazil… The fact that standup comedy made it there [late] is so unusual.”

The guest explained how the style of comedy didn’t connect with Brazilian people initially, however now it was changing.
