Prior to this fight, ‘Notorious’ and Poirier had faced each other on two other occasions. The first fight between McGregor and Poirier happened way back in 2014. Poirier and McGregor faced each other at the UFC 178 event and ‘Notorious’ had won that fight via a 1st round TKO.

During that time, Poirier was the more popular star, while McGregor was building his way towards MMA superstardom. 7 years later, when the pair met each other again, McGregor was a global superstar. In their second fight at UFC 257, ‘The Diamond’ got the better of McGregor winning the fight via a 2nd round TKO.

What next for Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier?

After breaking his leg in the fight against Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor has been medically suspended till 2022. However, whenever the fighter returns, he has wished to fight Poirier in a 4th fight. Apart from that, a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz is also an option for ‘Notorious’.
