Just as the name suggests, mixed martial arts incorporates various art forms. Undeniably, every fan has one single form towards which they incline the most. For Joe Rogan, it is wrestling. Surprisingly, the UFC’s first-ever heavyweight champion, Mark Coleman, was also of a similar mindset.

A clip from Rogan’s podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, has gone viral on the internet. Therein, the beloved UFC color commentator revealed the one skill that he deemed to be the best in MMA. Without a doubt, it was wrestling. Being a BJJ black belt himself, Rogan’s take on wrestling was quite strong. However, there are also some incidents that cast a dark shadow upon the realm of wrestling.

Mark Coleman’s take on the #1 MMA skill coincides with that of Joe Rogan

Recently, the victor of UFC 10 and UFC 11 shared a reel on his IG story. The reel showed Rogan revealing his opinion on the number one skill in mixed martial arts. 

When asked about the same, Rogan answered,Wrestling. Wrestling. Wrestling. I think wrestling is the number one skill. Because if you could choose to take the fight to the ground, or not, if you’re a superior wrestler, the person’s always worried about being taken down. I think wrestlers have a massive advantage.”

Rogan’s fans know quite well about his affection for the art of wrestling. Moreover, Coleman was also an amateur wrestler, but his strikes were nothing short of lethal. It was his striking prowess coupled with his wrestling experience that churned him into the champion he was.

Rogan recounts the shadow cast upon the BJJ mats

While the JRE host is a massive fan of the grappling sport, he once revisited the time when it cast a veil of horror on the entire world of combat sports. In an episode of JRE, he talked about a Californian lawsuit that was born due to a BJJ accident.

The podcaster went through a story where a coach had to go through a lawsuit for causing severe injuries to a student. Even though it was not what he intended, and the chances of receiving an injury during BJJ practice are pretty rare, the incident was not taken in good humor by the sportspersons. Even sports that lack bloodlust are sometimes subject to massive scrutiny from the public. Nevertheless, Rogan didn’t steer away from his love for BJJ.
