Now, Covington’s coaches have suggested what mistakes their fighter made in his second attempt to grab the welterweight gold.
In a chat with Sherdog, they said, “In the beginning of the fight, like, in the first round if you watch again, he was like, I don’t know if he tried to throw too hard. And there’s like five rounds; And the strategy was not like to throw anything hard, in the beginning. But he tried, and you know like, and then second round he did it again.”

MMA Masters’ coaches proposed that Covington initially rushed in without being methodical about it, and that cost him the first two rounds at UFC 268. Also, both the coaches were happy with Covington’s performance in the last three rounds.
‘Chaos‘ did so well in the last three rounds and overall in the fight that he thought he should’ve got the nod from the judges. Hence, he felt that the decision had robbed him of the welterweight championship.
