How did the JRE take place?
The initial producer of ‘JRE,’ Brian Redban, was hired by Joe Rogan in 2003, which is when the podcast’s beginnings can be traced. Having created his own website, the former Fear Factor host was looking for someone to serve as his video editor. Redban’s peculiar tendency of ‘recording everything’ caught Rogan’s attention, which further enhanced his suitability for the position.

Rogan and Redban broadcasted a live stream of UFC commentator Anthony Cumia’s comedy shows on Justin.tv, eventually launching ‘JRE’. Opie, Anthony, and Anthony Cumia’s live Ustream show inspired the idea. Rogan launched his podcast on Ustream, with its first episode airing on December 24, 2009. The first episode featured both Rogan and Redban bullshitting.
