UFC strawweight Angela Hill spoke out at a Broadcaster interview going into UFC on ESPN: Holm vs Aldana. The event is set for October 3, 2020, and is a continuation of the UFC’s return to Yas Fight Island. Chiefly, ‘Overkill’ Hill spoke out on a variety of trending topics in the MMA world and touched upon an event at UFC 253.
Israel Adesanya defended his gold strap for the second time against Paulo Costa at the event. ‘The Last Stylebender’ brutalized the Brazilian title challenger from the opening moments of the fight and earned a second-round finish. Following the fight, Adesanya was quick to express his disdain for Costa as the two had bad blood brewing.

Angela Hill found Paulo Costa’s UFC 253 fight “funny”
Many fans and media members considered Adesanya’s post-fight celebration to have been significantly disrespectful. Despite the contention between both fighters, the consensus was that Israel’s action wasn’t in the spirit of MMA. Nevertheless, Hill had a slightly different perspective on the matter and chimed in at the media scrum.

“That was funny. I mean like yeah be mad about that. The dry humping, there wasn’t any penetration. He didn’t actually smack him with anything. It was miming, he was doing aggressive miming.”
Although Hill saw the lighter side of Adesanya’s actions, she said that she wouldn’t necessarily do the same. Furthermore, she elaborated on Adesanya’s thought process and their overall feud.

“He was excited and I think this fight really got to him. Mentally, I think he really had to dig deep into his Zen state of mind and watch a lot of Naruto to really channel that inner ninja in him and beat up the bully. Then afterwards he celebrated beating up the bully. I thought it was funny. Obviously, it was disrespectful,… but I didn’t think it was out of line considering the build-up and everything. But yeah, I probably wouldn’t have done it.”
The brash octagon celebration has become one of the biggest talking points in MMA apart from the performance itself. Hill reminded fight fans that the bad blood between the two fighters was the reason for a post-fight celebration. Although there is little debate as to whether the action was disrespectful, Hill provided a new take on the matter.
