Josh Thomson on the return of Nick Diaz

Nick Diaz, one of the UFC’s most well-known fighters, has a remarkable professional fighting career. During his tenure in the UFC, he put up phenomenal performances. However, the Stockton native has not fought since his previous bout at UFC 183, when he defeated Anderson Silva.

Josh Thomson recently appeared on a Helen Yee interview and discussed his thoughts on the upcoming fight between Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler at UFC 266. Nick Diaz will return to the UFC this month following a six-year sabbatical.

The fight will be a rematch of the pair’s first meeting, which took place at UFC 47 in 2004 and concluded with Diaz knocking out Lawler in the second round. According to Josh, there is some social media footage circulating that suggests Nick Diaz may not compete at UFC 266.

“The only fight that I really cared to watch him (Nick Diaz) fight was going to either be Jorge Masvidal or Robbie Lawler. Because I would love to see them.” – Josh Thomson on the return of legendary fighter Nick Diaz to the UFC.

“Look, I hope he’s okay. This has been one of the most exciting fights that I’ve been anticipating for the longest time,” said Josh in the interview. I believe we can all agree Thomson isn’t alone in this, and every UFC fan has been slashing down dates on their calendar in the excitement of this iconic rematch. It would be really unfortunate if Nick Diaz is injured and the “footage” that is supposedly going around on the internet is actually true.

Nick Diaz vs Robbie Lawler 2

At UFC 42, Nick Diaz beat Robbie Lawler in their first fight. However, both men were at the peak of their careers then. However, the combatants’ present situation is quite different. Robbie Lawler hasn’t fought since his August 2020 loss to Neil Magny. Lawler has lost five of his previous six fights, and Diaz hasn’t fought since his bout against Anderson Silva was ruled off as a no-contest when he tested positive for marijuana.
