“I want that f—k you money, honestly, that’s just what it is. “Or else, my life is perfect without him,” said the heavyweight champion, Jon Jones as he was inquired about taking on Tom Aspinall. ‘Bones’ wants one thing from the promotion: a payday so massive that he would never have to fight again. According to some, the amount could be as high as $30 million. Well, the question remains, will UFC CEO Dana White pay such an amount to a fighter? Joe Rogan, who’s no stranger to the ins and outs of the UFC appears to believe that the promotion would bend in front of Jones’s star power, however, some important people disagree.

While having a one-on-one with Daniel Cormier on Good Guy/Bad Guy, Chael Sonnen touched upon the topic of Jon Jones earning a substantial fee for his outing against Tom Aspinall. ‘The American Gangster’ emphasized the topic, stating that if Jones does receive such a high amount, it would mean he’s going to get the biggest check they’ve ever written.

Enter Daniel Cormier, who argues that Jones might be able to get such a huge amount from Dana White considering his star power, “I do. I believe that he’ll get the biggest check they’ve ever given. Percentage that he’ll get 30 million?” said Cormier. Sonnen appeared to be a bit perplexed by Cormier’s words as the former middleweight title contender emphasized that he doesn’t believe that Jon Jones would get a hefty $30 million, “To me, 30 just seems strong. ‘Cause how many pay-per-views break down? I mean, breaking down, that’s 15 million pay-per-views. That’s just silly. That’d be about 11 and a half million. That’s just not going to happen.”

Daniel Cormier agreed with The American Gangster’s comments, “Yeah, the largest pay-per-view of all time is 2 million pay-per-views, two and a half for Khabib and Conor. There’s no way you get to 30 million. But hey, if you ask for 30 and you get 15, when you probably got eight—hey, that’s a good day. Or you get to 20—that’s a good day. I don’t believe he gets to 30 million,” said Cormier.

As of today, Conor McGregor is the highest-paid UFC athlete of all time. The former featherweight and lightweight champion was paid a massive $25.3 million as of 2022, according to ‘Stastica’ reports. If Jones gets $30 million for his fight against Tom Aspinall, then he will top the list with a great margin. While Daniel Cormier doesn’t think it’s possible, Joe Rogan and Michael Bisping think it’s quite a possibility – and a good thing.

Joe Rogan and Michael Bisping believe Dana White would have to bend in front of Jon Jones

While having a conversation about Jon Jones on ‘JRE #2249’ with Yannis Pappas and Chris Distefano, Joe Rogan talked about the pay with his guests. The multi-million dollar podcaster emphasized, “I think it’s going to be [Tom] Aspinall. I think they’re trying to come to some sort of an agreement. The rumor is that [Jon Jones] wants $30 million and the UFC is going to pay him, hopefully… I hope they [UFC] pay it”

With a career record of 28 victories and just 1 defeat (a disqualification loss against Matt Hamill), Bones has been a champion for what feels like forever. He claimed the light-heavyweight championship belt at just 23 years old and has remained a dominant figure in the sport ever since. However, his off-cage antics occasionally forced him to step away from the promotion. Upon his return, Jones ventured into the heavyweight division, where he secured a decisive victory against Ciryl Gane.

His career record speaks for itself and Michael Bisping believes that this is the sole reason Dana White would have to bend his laws for him, “If Jon Jones is going to get thirty million dollars, good for him. He’s been a champion forever, so he deserves it more than anyone else,” said Bisping on his YouTube handle. Well, as of now, nothing has been made certain but the promotion is working day and night to make sure that the fight happens. What’s your take on the Jon Jones demanding $30 million?
