UFC 292 is just around the corner. The event promises a huge lineup of exciting fights for what is bound to be a spectacular display of martial arts. In the light of this event, UFC Champion Alexander Volkanovski chose to single out a particular bout. Commenting on the upcoming Welterweight fight between Ian Machado Garry and Neil Magny, the Featherweight champ took to his YouTube channel to share his thoughts. Amongst sharing his prospective winner for the other bouts, this champion delved into why Garry was his pick for the fight.
The young Ian Machado Garry will hope to triumph against Neil Magny, who currently holds the record for the most wins in UFC Welterweight history. Placed 13th on the rankings, two places below ‘The Haitian Sensation’ Magny, Garry will be looking to make history himself, similar to fellow Irishman Conor McGregor. As fans wait to discover who will come out on top, the Australian mixed martial artist’s insightful take comes into the picture.

The champ makes his call: Ian Machado Garry vs. Neil Magny
Alexander Volkanovski, the current UFC featherweight champion, had a clear favorite in his video analysis of the upcoming UFC 292 event. Attempting to predict the future, Volkanovski placed his faith in ‘The Future’ himself, Ian Machado Garry.
‘The Great’ began his analysis in acceptance of Garry’s phenomenal form in his last bout. The champ emphasized, “What I like about Ian Garry was obviously, his last fight he looked great.” He also praised the young Irishman’s acumen for learning. He said, “He’s been traveling… I don’t know if he went to Brazil but he went somewhere training with Charles [Oliviera].”
The Featherweight champ was also quick to note the merit of Garry’s efforts. He continued, “He’s traveling and trying to get all the knowledge. He doesn’t just go there and just train with people, he wants to learn.”

Volkanovski’s nod to Garry’s past form and his desire to develop as a fighter makes him a strong opponent for ‘The Haitian Sensation’. However, that wasn’t the end of the appreciation, as Garry found another admirer.
A grappler’s vote of confidence
According to the Champ, his BJJ coach, Craig Jones, also was very impressed with Garry’s training. He explained, “Craig Jones was training with him and Craig Jones was surprised with his grappling. You know, he’s very clever, he’s eager to learn.”

Garry’s involvement with top-tier fights also hints at his mental preparation ahead of the fight. Volkanovski had more to share. He elaborated further, “Craig Jones was saying like, you know, he was speaking about even the questions he was asking. [It] was a sophisticated type of questions.”
Ian Machado Garry’s pursuit of excellence set him apart in Volkanovski’s eyes. The Australian was all praise for ‘The Future’ as he went ahead. Volkanovski declared, “It’s good to see young talented athletes that want to learn and eager to learn. There’s only one way and that’s up. And he already looked great in his last one. So you can see why he’ll be the favorite.”

Armed with endorsements from master grappler Craig Jones and UFC Champion Alexander Volkanovski, Garry will be looking to validate their expectations. But Neil Magny is no pushover. The Haitian-American fighter will be looking to underline his ambitions and prove everybody wrong. Irrespective of the outcome, UFC 292 so far promises to be worth the wait.
