The world of mixed martial arts runs on rivalries. One of these fiery rivalries involved Jorge Masvidal and Ben Askren. The duo previously faced each other at UFC 239, where the ‘Gamebred Fighter’ secured one of the fastest wins in the history of UFC. But the tale didn’t end there.

The flames have been rekindled, and the fire lurks towards a challenge. After ‘Funky’ questioned Masvidal’s BMF credentials, following the events of UFC 291, the two have been generating quite a lot of friction on social media. Recently, Masvidal sent forth a challenge to his former welterweight opponent for a boxing bout. In addition to that, he also proposed a grappling bout following the boxing match. However, there was a strange promise embedded in the former BMF title holder’s words.

The ‘Gamebred’ fighter replied, “They were offering us some deals and offering him some deals. But he’s a b**ch, you know. And there’s some people who wanted to see me box him and grab. So, I would, I would, I’ll do it right now. Ben, I challenge you to a boxing match, right, and I promise I won’t use my right hand.” He confirmed that he would win nothing but jabs.

‘Gamebred’ then verbally attacked Askren, claiming that he probably didn’t even know how to spell a ‘jab’. Nevertheless, the former fighter was aware of his opponent’s grappling prowess. He later proposed, “and then after that, we could do a grappling match.” Without a doubt, this would be one of the most interesting rematches, if it materializes.

In a previous interview with Nina Marie Daniele, Masvidal addressed his rivalry with Askren. While challenges were flowing from the other side, ‘Gamebred’ was not ready for another MMA bout. Instead, he proposed to settle the score inside the squared ring. However, he didn’t back away from sending a snide remark.

He reminded ‘Funky’ of their last bout, which ended within 5 seconds of the very first round. Masvidal said, “Ben I can’t knee you in the face, the fight might last longer than five seconds you know”.
