Charles Oliveira‘s 11-fight winning streak came to an end when he faced Islam Makhachev at UFC 280. The Brazilian lightweight was defeated by Makhachev, marking the first loss Oliveira had experienced in quite some time. Before the epic showdown with Justin Gaethje at UFC 274, ‘do Bronx’ faced a tough blow when Dana White & Co. decided to strip him of his hard-earned championship title. But that decision is facing some backlash by the fellow Brazilian lightweight.

This decision came as a result of Oliveira’s failure to cut that last half-pound during the weigh-ins. However, Oliveira didn’t let the setback derail him. In May 2022, he entered the octagon against Gaethje and showcased his fighting prowess, securing a victory despite the absence of the lightweight belt, which remained vacant even after his triumph. Now, as the date for their rematch approaches, the discussion about the UFC’s decision to strip Oliveira of his title is resurfaced by Renato Carneiro, who believes that ‘do Bronx’ was unfairly treated.
