Joe Rogan has seldom failed to hype up an athlete, and Ronda Rousey was lifted up quite a few times. However, with her steep decline seemingly urged the famed commentator to turn against her. But Rogan wasn’t the only one who turned on her. Rousey received backlash from the majority of the fighting community, following her defeat at the hands of Holly Holm. Owing to this, she had to come up with an elaborate explanation regarding her history of concussions.

Unfortunately, it all seemed to have gone to waste. The hostility towards the former champion continued. Nevertheless, ‘Rowdy’ recently lashed back at the MMA media, after claiming that she was waiting for a call from them.

In a recent interview with Chris Cuomo, ‘Rowdy’ opened up on the boos she has been receiving from the MMA community. She reflected, “It was really, like, disappointing just to, to see how, how happily everybody had turned on me and how you know people like Joe Rogan who were like crying in the ring out of the honor of being able to call my fights had like, you know, people that considered friends in the media so quickly you know turned on me.”

When Cuomo asked her whether anyone from the MMA realm contacted her after talking about her decline, she revealed that she hadn’t got a single call. After commenting that the MMA media “hates” her, she said, “I’ll be waiting for that call forever.”

Cuomo dived right back in for confirmations. He inquired if Rousey was really waiting for the call. She replied, “I’m not waiting for it and I get that they’re a bunch of a***oles. That’s what I get… At least I would rather not have those fake, you know, friendships in my life. I’d rather that those people expose themselves and I, I don’t, you know, leave myself open to them.”

Undeniably, Rousey was one of the greatest female fighters the UFC has ever seen. Moreover, getting inducted into the Hall of Fame for UFC as well as the WWE is no easy feat, and Rousey is the only female to have achieved that. Unfortunately, it’s deemed useless when the fans stand in opposition.

Was Rousey a one-trick poney?

After Holm KOed Rousey in the second round of their last matchup, every single fan began questioning Rousey’s career. Although it was initially flawless, her career seems to have faced a steady decline. But Rousey has an explanation for that.

She recently took to Instagram and revealed that she had way too many concussions when she used to practice judo. Fearing that it would make her head a must-hit target, she kept quiet about the concussions throughout her tenure as an MMA fighter. Without a doubt, the comments section of the post was filled with people questioning her. It seems like they aren’t ready to accept Rousey’s justification.

It was not just Rousey who faced the fans’ wrath. Her coach Edmond Tarverdyan had also become the butt of jokes. There were allegations that his coaching left Rousey with rudimentary striking abilities and head movement. Only three of Rousey’s 12 MMA wins came from strikes. The rest were submissions, mostly the armbar.

It’s no surprise that the Olympian Judoka used her grappling to get the job done. But against accomplished strikers like Holm and Amanda Nunes, she could not implement her gameplan. Do you think her concussions made her more susceptible to their strikes? Or was Rousey a one-trick pony that was exposed later in her career by more well-rounded MMA fighters? Let us know in the comments down below.
