This year’s UFC 268 event was one of the most anticipated cards in the history of the promotion. Fans were extremely hyped for this event to take place, and the fact that they held it at Madison Square Garden just added to the excitement. The best part about the card was that it actually lived up to its hype. UFC 268 took place on the 6th of November in New York City and was headlined by Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington.

The fights that went down on Saturday night were absolutely phenomenal. However, many fans felt that there was an issue with the canvas of the octagon. Many fighters were seen slipping in the octagon, more often than usual.

Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling took to Twitter to point this out as well.

After the action-packed night, UFC President Dana White addressed the issue of the slippery canvas in the post-event press conference.

White said,” I noticed that too. I don’t know what the hell that or why that was happening. The canvas that we use is nasty. I mean that stuff will take your skin right off… And guys were slipping. I don’t know why. I don’t know what it is. But I did notice that too. Like right before, after the eye poke with Colby, Usman was in the corner just rubbing his feet on the mat like a million times.”

“We use the same canvas. Did we have to spray some crazy fu**ing COVID shit on there tonight? Who knows, I don’t know. We’ll find out though, and see what went wrong tonight.”

Dana White on the Canelo fight being held at the same time as UFC 268

The 6th of November was an action-packed night not just for MMA enthusiasts, but also for boxing lovers. Over a thousand miles from New York, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Canelo Alvarez fought challenger Caleb Plant in order to determine the undisputed super middleweight champion.

Dana White, who started off as a boxing trainer in Boston, was spotted watching the boxing match on his TV monitor at UFC 268. The boxing match was taking place at the same time that Rose Namajunas and Zhang Weili were fighting in the octagon.

Dana addressed the fact that Stephen Espinoza held the boxing match at the same time as UFC 268 in the press conference as well. He said,”  I think they’re insane to go the same night as us. It literally doesn’t make sense.” He’s an a*shole (Stephen Espinoza). That doesn’t surprise me. But yeah, it was a bad idea. I think it was a bad idea.”
