A quite strange thing happened at UFC Vegas 106, and fans are talking about it. The Fight Night inside the Apex delivered some great matchups, with the card delivering 7 finishes in total. Moreover, the main event stood out as Michael Morales knocked out Gilbert Burns in the very first round. But it was what happened thereafter that has surprised the whole MMA community, involving former fighter and UFC broadcast member Paul Felder.

We’ve seen many strange things happen in the UFC, with eagle-eyed fans being quick to highlight those moments on social media. This time, when the Fight Night was over and done with, the commentators for the event, Michael Bisping, John Gooden, and, of course, Paul Felder, had a post-fight discussion live on air. While Gooden was sharing an insight regarding the UFC 316 PPV, Xtreme Couture head coach Eric Nicksick came by the commentary desk and approached Felder.

Well, Eric Nicksick didn’t have much to say, but he came near Felder, and he slipped in what looked like a ten or twenty-dollar bill, which was quite unusual from the Xtreme Couture head coach. This, unsurprisingly, gave rise to speculations that maybe there was a bet between the two, but we don’t have much information regarding this incident at the moment.

Fans aren’t pleased with Paul Felder and Eric Nicksick after the UFC Vegas 106 incident

We all know how Dana White and the athletic commissions feel about fighters and coaches betting on fights. One of those prime examples is James Krause, who transitioned from a fighter to a coach. As a coach, he’d put money on his fighters, as he openly mentioned during an interview. As a result, the UFC banned him for life, leading the promotion to tighten its gambling rules. With a fan commenting, “Shades of James Krause,” they believe something similar may have gone down between Eric Nicksick and Paul Felder.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Paul Felder and Eric Nicksick cross a line, or is this just harmless fun?

Have an interesting take?

Furthermore, Felder and Nicksick are well-known and well-respected personalities in the mixed martial arts world. While one has been a top fighter during his prime, the other has coached many world champions. Engaging in a bet, and that too, live on air, has made fans claim that “this is bad look.” As one fan said, “Uh oh,” believing that there might be some consequences for Felder and Nicksick, some fans wondered if it was just a friendly bet between the two MMA personalities. “Surely this would’ve been more of a closed bet just between felder and nicksick, though?”

Meanwhile, one of the best fights of the year took place at UFC Vegas 106, as featherweight fighters Melquizael Costa and Julian Erosa put on a ‘Fight of the Night’ performance. Moreover, Costa recorded a victory despite getting injured just minutes into the fight. Fans believe that Nicksick and Felder may have put their money on this fight, with the former fighter coming out on top, as they believe “Felder had Costa.”

Nevertheless, there are still some worries and concerns amongst fans, claiming that the instance when Eric Nicksick passed the money and got caught on air could lead to Paul Felder’s termination from the UFC. “I don’t think he better, I think he got set up to get fired lol,” said one fan, highlighting the fact that Dana White doesn’t tolerate such practices. But there were still people who believed that this issue isn’t as serious as people think, claiming that “it’s all in good fun.”

Well, what do you think? Could Paul Felder and Eric Nicksick be penalized for this incident? Drop your comments down below.
