Dagestani ace Usman Nurmagomedov recently found himself suspended after being tested for PEDs. The Bellator lightweight champion failed the test after testing positive for a banned substance. Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov recently shared a message to his family and friends on social media following the major setback in his career.

Usman is following in his cousin’s footsteps and UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov. He boasts an undefeated 17-0 record and has taken the Bellator’s lightweight division by storm. However, Nurmagomedov’s recent setback seems to have made him realize something as he had an emotional message for the people who are close to him. The past few days haven’t been the best for the 25-year-old champion. Usman Nurmagomedov had a great outing at Bellator 300, where he defeated Brent Primus via unanimous decision to retain his lightweight title. However, the failed drug test caused the decision of the fight to be overturned to a no-contest.

These recent events may have caused a shift in Usman Nurmagomedov, as he recently confessed on Instagram. “One lesson learned in this life,” Khabib’s cousin said. He claims to have a lot of respect for the bond he shares with his blood brothers. Usman added, “No matter what friends are close, beloved, relatives. There is nothing better than brothers By blood brothers.”

However, he also values his friends, who have been with him on his MMA journey. However, Usman Nurmagomedov claims to have realized a lot about the people in his life. “But, I do not exclude the fact that there are true friends too, but this is life already showing who is who,” the Bellator champion said.

Khabib’s cousin failed to inform CSAC about a medication

Two days ago, Usman Nurmagomedov made an explanatory post on Instagram. He stated that the drug test was a result of a mistake he made. Usman was on medication that was prescribed by a doctor. As such, one of the substances in that medication is supposedly banned, and that’s what caused him to fail the drug test.

Usman Nurmagomedov also mentioned that the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) investigated the situation. The Bellator champion provided them with all the necessary documents to reduce his suspension to six months. Meanwhile, he’ll remain the lightweight champion of Bellator.

Usman Nurmagomedov has had a squeaky-clean record in his MMA career. But the recent no-decision may have affected him a little. It also seems like Usman will be away for a while, and the promotion might have a new interim champion soon. We will have to wait and see what lies ahead for the 25-year-old 17-0 Dagestani ace.
