When UFC prospect Paddy Pimblett joined the promotion as a lightweight fighter back in 2012, the UFC started pushing him for important fights. Today, his record stands at 20-3-0. His last fight was in 2022 against Jared Gordon at UFC 282. Pimblett walked away with a win by decision. However, there seems to be fresh news around Pimblett and the incomparable Josh Emmett.

Josh Emmett is one of the biggest names in the UFC Featherweight division. He is a seasoned fighter who, according to sources, is a favorite when talking of Pimblett’s next fight. Pimblett fights out of the Lightweight division while Emmett is a feared fighter of the Featherweight division. Is this fight possible?

Although the two veterans seemed fascinated by the idea of this fight, Thomson seemed to think that this fight will not happen. Rather, the UFC will not make it happen. He had his reasons as well.

He wouldn’t take that fight though. John and the UFC wouldn’t offer him that fight cause Josh is on his way out and Paddy’s on his way in and they’re really trying to make money with Paddy. So, the UFC’s not gonna offer him that fight… This sh*t ain’t never gonna happen guys.“, said Thomson, quite sure of what he said.

Apparently, it is important for the UFC to ensure that Paddy Pimblett wins his next few fights so that the UFC can generate more revenue. The retired UFC fighter has dubbed Pimblett, who is quite entertaining to watch, the ‘Golden Goose’ for the UFC.

They need to keep the Golden Goose, uh… Paddy Pimblett making them money. They’re gonna keep giving them fights that will keep him in the… in the win column or try the best to give him fights to keep him in the win column.“, added Thomson.

Nevertheless, Josh Emmett is in the twilight of his career and aims to close out the show with a fight in lightweight. That is why Pimblett is being considered as a potential fight for Emmett.

Pimblett called out Emmett and said that he would defeat Emmett ‘in his sleep’. Emmett has answered back as well, saying he is willing to move up to 155 to fight Pimblett.

However, Josh Thomson seems to think that Josh Emmett will have a tougher fight for himself. “Josh Emmett is gonna probably have a tough hard fight next and that might be his retirement fight – or not. Whatever’s up to him. But they’re not… they’re not offering him Paddy Pimblett. Let’s just be honest everybody.

The talk of Dana White’s privilege has been quite prevalent and now it seems that people are of the opinion that Paddy Pimblett is being favored by UFC President Dana White.
