This weekend, UFC featherweight contender Bryce Mitchell is all set to make his Octagon return against Dan Ige. But before that happens, it looks like the fighter has some unfinished business with science. Spoiler alert: this is not something the scientific community is going to appreciate.

Coming off the first loss of his UFC career, this fight will be Mitchell’s first of the year. Naturally, the fighter seems to be training hard for his upcoming bout. However, it appears that it’s not just Ige but also Sir Isaac Newton’s theory that is in the sights of the Arkansas native.

Gravity is fake according to Bryce Mitchell, things fall due to their mass

Recently, Bryce Mitchell made a claim that seems to be taking the MMA community by storm. According to the UFC featherweight contender, gravity does not exist, and objects fall down because of their mass. As support for this claim, the fighter gave an example of a helium-filled balloon, which rises up even though helium has mass. This statement came during Mitchell’s recent appearance on Michael Bisping’s podcast ‘Believe You Me.’

This twice-weekly podcast is hosted by the former UFC middleweight champion alongside UFC light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith. During the said episode, Bisping denied the existence of God due to a lack of evidence. To which ‘Thug Nasty’ responded by questioning the authenticity of science and asking for proof of gravity from the show’s host. In Mitchell’s words: “You want to tell me you don’t believe in God because there’s no evidence? Give me the proof of gravity. You know why things drop to the ground? Because of density, brother.”

This is not the first time Mitchell has questioned the authenticity of modern science. The fighter has been a vocal supporter of the flat earth conspiracy theory on his social media, something for which he has been called out by many of his fellow UFC colleagues, including Joe Rogan. Last year, the fighter even went back and forth with the podcaster over this on the internet. Nevertheless, while there are few believers in Mitchell’s beliefs, many seem to be having a field day trolling the featherweight.
