And although they took their beef inside the UFC octagon, where ‘Chaos’ defeated ‘Gamebred’ at UFC 272, the animosity doesn’t seem to end. Reportedly, Masvidal attacked Covington outside a Miami Beach restaurant on Monday.
Ever since the news broke out, many UFC fans and athletes have chimed in their thoughts on the conflict. One of them is the former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The Dagestan native slammed the Californian for bringing up Masvidal’s family in his trash talk. Not only that, but he also asked UFC welterweight fighters to boycott Covington.
While talking about Nurmagomedov’s comments, surging UFC welterweight fighter Daniel Rodriguez in an interview with TMZ Sports said, “I respect Khabib for that.”
“You know he has always been that kind of fighter that doesn’t you know disrespect. Especially family, you know. Trying to sell a fight is one thing, but when you start like throwing family in the mix, it’s kind of like personal.”
“I don’t respect throwing family in the mix like Conor McGregor was throwing to throw Dustin Poirier’s wife in the mix. Just trying to sell that fight. You don’t do that sh*t.” He added.
