The UFC authorities made every possible effort to stack up the UFC 294 card. Despite one-half of both the main and co-main event fighters pulling out of their bouts, the UFC 294 card still stands as stacked as it was previously. Apart from an enthralling main card, the UFC authorities have paid enough attention to the prelims as well. This is probably why they have put noted UFC flyweight, Tim Elliott, in the final fight of the prelims.

Elliott currently holds the #8 rank in the flyweight division of the UFC. He is also in the tenth year of his UFC tenure, which even contains a break. A large chunk of fans may agree that he is one of the better-skilled fighters in the division. But his record seems far inferior in terms of the skills he packs. Elliott made his way into professional MMA in the year 2009. However, the initial part of his journey was a really unruly one. But why was it so? Let’s find out in this piece about Elliott’s pro-MMA career and record.

As of October 2023, Elliot has a professional MMA record of 19-12-1, with nine finishes (three knockouts and six submissions). But as mentioned, the Missouri native couldn’t see the face of a victory until his fourth professional fight. Elliott started off his pro-MMA career in 2009 and earned the only draw of his career in his very first bout.

However, the fights that followed proved to be even worse. Elliott picked up two defeats in his next two fights. Hence, his record after three pro-MMA fights stood at 0-2-1. But this became the turning point in his MMA career. The 36-year-old sharpened his skills superbly after this setback in the initial part of his MMA career.

Most fans may find it hard to believe that Elliott went on an eight-fight winning streak after his 0-1-2 initial record. This superb streak is what probably got him into the sights of the UFC authorities, who finally signed him in the year 2012. Elliott arrived in the UFC with an 8-1-2 record. However, his overall record in his outside UFC pro-MMA fights stands at 11-1-2.

Elliott is one of the very few fighters who has had more than one run in the UFC. As already mentioned, he was inducted into the UFC in 2013. But he started off his UFC run with a defeat too. Elliott lost against John Dodson at UFC on Fox 3 in his UFC debut. But the first run of his UFC career ended just after six fights. The UFC authorities weren’t pretty impressed by his 2-4 record, which led to his release.

But Elliott ramped up three more consecutive victories after his UFC release, which got him re-inducted into the UFC for a second run. But he faced the noted former UFC flyweight champ, Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson, in his very first fight and picked up a defeat yet again. However, he has been continuing his UFC run since then. But picking up losses at regular intervals didn’t leave his record pretty impressive.
