Conor McGregor will clash in a highly anticipated trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Ahead of UFC 264, Conor McGregor revealed that he is eyeing another intriguing trilogy fight against Nate Diaz.

Akin to Poirier, Diaz is also 1-1 against McGregor. The pair first clashed at UFC 196 on March 5, 2016, where Diaz claimed a second-round submission (rear-naked choke) victory. The same year, their rematch took place at UFC 202 on August 20, where McGregor emerged victorious via a majority decision.

Ahead of UFC 264, McGregor sat down with the well-known sports news reporter Stephen A. Smith. In their interview, when Smith asked about the Diaz trilogy fight, ‘Notorious’ revealed that he wants it to happen.

While talking about the Diaz trilogy fight, McGregor said – “Of course, that has to happen, that must take place. That fight will take place, of course.”

Recently, the well-known MMA sports personality, ‘The Schmo’, reached out to Diaz. In their meet up, Schmo asked Diaz whether he wants this trilogy fight against McGregor.

Diaz responded – “Yeah! Time will tell. Let’s see what happens.”

McGregor vs. Diaz is one of the greatest rivalries in UFC history. As of today, their first bout at UFC 196 holds the fifth position in the highest-grossing UFC PPV events. McGregor vs. Diaz 1 sold over 1.3 million PPV buys.

Moreover, their rematch at UFC 202 did even better. It is tied with McGregor vs. Poirier 2 for the second position for highest-grossing UFC PPV. Diaz vs. McGregor 2 sold approximately 1.6 million pay-per-view buys.
