Both warriors didn’t want to take a step back, and from the very first round, went after each other. They landed a combined total of 389 significant strikes with Holloway landing 230 of them. The former UFC featherweight champion also became the first UFC fighter to land over 3,000 total strikes.

It was a historic night for ‘Blessed,’ but what’s next for him. He is undoubtedly the number 1 contender for the UFC featherweight title. But he has teased a future matchup with Conor McGregor several times. According to him, he’s always on the shortlist to fight ‘The Notorious.’

However, UFC President Dana White wasn’t too keen on a Holloway vs. McGregor matchup yet as the Irishman is still out injured.

He said, “Listen, like I said, I don’t know what’s next for Max. It does make sense to see him and Volkanovski again. We’ll get that figured out. Conor’s still hurt. I mean, to even talk about Conor is silly.”

McGregor is still recovering from the broken leg he suffered in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. He had surgery and has started training again.

Who’s next for Max Holloway?

The former UFC featherweight champion is now on a two-fight win streak and is looking for his next challenge. After the win against ‘El Pantera,’ Holloway is the clear favorite to challenge Alexander Volkanovski for the title. Dana White also seems to be in favor of that matchup. However, Holloway seems to be fishing around for some other fights.

He has been teasing a fight against the former two-division champion Conor McGregor. As both men have been having a go at each other on social media, a fight between the two is possible. But ‘The Notorious’ is currently injured and it will take him some time to get back. It will also be interesting to see that at which weight-class the fight can happen. So, there can be no clarification until McGregor is cleared to fight.

In his post-fight interview at UFC Vegas 42, Holloway also called out Charles Oliveira, the current UFC lightweight champion. Both men have fought in the past, and Holloway won that fight. If he moves up a weight class, that fight might be possible.
