Francis Ngannou is preparing to take on the interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane at UFC 270. When the bout was announced, a video of Ngannou and Gane training was released, and the fight was dubbed as a battle between two training partners. In the video, ‘Bon Gamin’ could be seen holding his own against Ngannou. This got fans talking about the matchup.

However, the champion didn’t have the same reaction to it. According to him, it was a marketing strategy as they only released select footage.

In a recent interview, he said, “I mean when I saw that footage, my first reaction was laughing because I know exactly what happened at those training sessions. But this is the thing when they want to do some highlight. They always choose the part of the video that they used. And they have a lot of videos like that. Because at that time they were filming our training session to promote him, his fight and everything.”

“So, there was a lot of footage from those few training sessions. But a lot of them never came out and would never come out. And I know for a fact that they would never come out. It’s about to make him look better and make me look bad. You know, to prove that he’s the man.”

Francis Ngannou says “they” are really good at manipulation

In the lead-up to the Ngannou-Gane fight, people look at the French fighter as a genuine threat to Ngannou’s title run. ‘Bon Gamin‘ is fast, light on his feet, and also possesses the power to knock people out. He moves around the octagon like a middleweight, which he showed against Derrick Lewis. However, the champion is dismissive of that.

According to him, it’s very intriguing how the narrative is changed so quickly. He said, “I’m like, wow, how easy is that, to manipulate people, which is they are really good at, manipulation.”
