The UFC world is desperate. The fate of the Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall heavyweight title unification bout is still shrouded in mystery. Fans will pay for Dana White to put them out of their misery by just telling them whether the fight is going to happen or not, after nearly eight months of will-they-won’t-they.
And it seems the time for the announcement is nigh. Or at least that is what Aspinall wants us to believe. The English interim heavyweight champ took to his Instagram handle, and posted a dramatic video of his face with the words, “28.05.2025”, along with the caption “Heavyweight news. Coming soon ⏳”.

This, of course, sent fans into a tizzy who felt they are finally close to the moment of truth. They will only have to wait until Wednesday to find out whether Aspinall is fighting Jones, or if ‘Bones’ will be stripped of his heavyweight title and the Englishman will fight someone else for it.

Alas, that was not the case. Aspinall left a comment on his video, indicating that the promised ‘heavyweight news’ is not about his next UFC fight, but something else entirely. “UFC announce my fights guys not me 😢”.
