A force of nature vs. a freak of nature! We have heard the comparisons before. Absolute behemoths slugging it out since time immemorial. Our ancestors used to hunt mammoths in groups! Can you believe it? Sounds too good to be true, but it is. And in 2025, we are bringing you the modern version of that situation. Who would win in a fight, 100 men or 1 gorilla? Well, that bizarre, some would even say silly question has taken the internet by storm, with millions of people weighing in on either side of the debate to make the case for their chosen team.
And since the question is firmly in the realm of combat sports, it isn’t surprising that the MMA world, too, is taking interest in it and giving their take on the topic. After fighters like Brandon Moreno, Cory Sandhagen, and Conor McGregor gave their views on the same, another UFC fighter weighed in on the topic. And it was none other than the spoken killer and UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall who gave the question his own twist and even invited Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to give his take on it.
“Only one man to settle the debate of 100 Tom Aspinalls vs 1 🦍… What do you reckon @zuck 🤔🤣,” the Englishman wrote in a post on ‘Threads’.

We’re not Mark Zuckerberg. But given the interesting twist Aspinall has put on the question, we cannot help but give our opinion on it too. And we think that a hundred Tom Aspinalls would almost definitely beat one gorilla. After all, the interim champ is a physical specimen! Aspinall weighs over 250 pounds and is a 6’5″ frame of pure muscle.

Not to mention, Aspinall is probably the most dangerous man in the entire sport. There is a lot of talk about who is the best pound-for-pound. But if one is to go by playground rules, Aspinall could beat any other fighter in the world in MMA regardless of weight class. Not only is he huge, but the Englishman is also a generational talent. As dangerous, nightmarish, and destructive on the ground as he is on the feet.
To be fair, the gorilla would have a weight and strength advantage over the UFC champion. Silverbacks can weigh up to 500 pounds and throw, not just lift! Moreover, they can throw objects weighing around 1700 pounds at their opponents. But we do see at least one clear path for a hundred Aspinalls to beat the gorilla.

How can a hundred Tom Aspinalls beat one silverback gorilla
While the size and strength advantage the gorilla has may work against one or ten or two dozen Aspinalls, it isn’t likely to hold up against a hundred Aspinalls. The way to defeat the gorilla, we think, is to try and swarm it and use your numbers to deal with it, most expeditiously by taking it down. We see about a dozen Englishmen surrounding the gorilla.
And while the primate is busy mauling about five of them, the rest of the seven of that first group of Aspinalls could try to jump on the gorilla’s back, while others try to leg sweep it and hit it from behind, which we think would be enough to take it down. And once the gorilla is down, the rest of the Aspinalls could jump in. Five each could hold each of the gorilla’s four limbs, and preferably break it, while about ten jump on its chest and torso to immobilize it.

The gorilla will still have its fangs, which would be enough to tear any Aspinalls who are brave enough to try and restrain its head. But the living Aspinalls could use some body parts of the dead Aspinalls to stuff the gorilla’s mouth, thus neutralizing its last remaining threat. From there, Aspinall just has to find a way to end the primate’s suffering, which could be done by either smothering it or twisting its neck.
But then again, we’re not generational MMA talents like Aspinall, who will probably have a better game plan if a hundred of them are taking on the gorilla. But our point is that we think a hundred Aspinalls does beat one silverback gorilla, even if there are multiple ways to skin that cat, metaphorically speaking. What do you think about Tom Aspinall’s twist on the hundred men vs. one gorilla question?
