He has been dominating the welterweight division of the UFC since 2022 when he defeated one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time – Kamaru Usman. Now, Edwards is gearing up to fight Colby Covington at UFC 296. While he has been living his dream in the UFC, it seems his brother hasn’t.

Fabian Edwards, the younger brother of Leon Edwards and his training partner, is the #1 Middleweight fighter of Bellator MMA. Both brothers are extremely ambitious and technical fighters. However, it seems when it comes to winning titles, Leon Edwards beat his younger brother as Fabian Edwards recently lost his title shot opportunity at Bellator 299.

Bellator MMA middleweight division’s champ, Johnny Eblen is the only fighter who stood in the way of Fabian Edwards becoming a champion, just like his older brother. At Bellator 299, which was held in Dublin, Fabian Edwards took his title shot opportunity and entered a fight against Johnny Eblen. The two went back-and-forth but in the third round, Eblen dropped Edwards with an overhand right and some lethal ground punches. Edwards lost that fight and later, sent out a tweet to the fans.

Thanks for the support. I made a promise to my self I’ll be a world champion, just tonight weren’t the night but I’ll be back to work to fix the mistakes ! The fight game aye“, read the Tweet. Leon Edwards has been hailed as a really competent UFC champion. Naturally, even Fabian Edwards wanted to get a championship title. However, from the Tweet, it is evident that the loss broke Edwards’ heart.

There had been bad blood between Fabian Edwards and Johnny Eblen for a while. Edwards had been charging at the title, winning his last 3 fights. However, Eblen was able to put a stop to him.

Post-fight eruption at Bellator 299

The fight was a fast-paced one, with both fighters exchanging heavy blows throughout. However, in the third round, Eblen decked Fabian Edwards and finished him off with a flurry of ground punches. However, when the official intervened, Eblen was not ready to let go – he had a few things to say to his opponent.

However, while he was in the middle of his post-win revelry, Fabian Edwards’ older brother, Leon Edwards, stepped in to stand up for his brother. Eblen seemed unfazed by it and the two were about to go at each other. However, the ring officials did a good job of keeping the two fighters away from each other. They kept the two far from each other but there was a heated exchange of words between them.
