Tony Ferguson Sends a Strong Message to “Fathead” Khabib Nurmagomedov Following Retirement News

Khabib Nurmagomedov is involved in many of the best rivalries in the sport. His rivalry with Conor McGregor is well-documented by the media. Similarly, ‘The Eagle’ also has an on-and-off rivalry with UFC Lightweight Tony Ferguson. ‘El Cucuy’ and Nurmagomedov have never faced each other in the octagon. The duo has faced bad luck owing to injuries and various other circumstances. However, they have not let their rivalry die amidst all this. Recently, Nurmagomedov seems to have announced that he has retired from all forms of MMA. In a reaction to the news, Tony Ferguson has trolled Khabib Nurmagomedov in his usual way.

Tony Ferguson has come out on Twitter to have his say about the apparent retirement of former rival Nurmagomedov. ‘El Cucuy’ tweeted in his cryptic style.

Moreover, ‘El Cucuy’ also trolled Nurmagomedov over his culture. Nurmagomedov used to wear his traditional ‘papakha’ during UFC events such as press conferences and weigh-ins. The former interim lightweight champion took a jibe at the Dagestani’s hat and tweeted “let your hair down and enjoy a snack” in a photo.

Furthermore, Ferguson also posted a photo of a doctored image of Nurmagomedov enjoying a tiramisu. Ferguson has a long history of jokes with the Dagestani and one of them is a ‘Tiramisu’ punch line.

Ferguson also trolled Li Jingliang and Nurmagomedov’s controversial manager Ali Abdelaziz in a single tweet. ‘El Cucuy’ referred to Abdelaziz as “Silly Ali”.

However, we would never see Ferguson face Nurmagomedov in a ring. But there is one fighter that also has unfinished business with the former interim lightweight champion.

Ferguson was supposed to face Li Jingliang

Tony Ferguson was due to face Li Jingliang at UFC 279. However, Ferguson fought Nate Diaz as Khamzat Chimaev could not make weight against Nate Diaz. Due to the cancellation of the fight with Ferguson, Jingliang thinks he has unfinished business with the lightweight. Moreover, he has also signed with Dominance MMA, the agents involved with the Dagestani camp.
