Former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre posted a photo of him training in the Wild Card Boxing gym in Los Angeles. With him were two familiar faces in Freddie Roach and former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson.

Fans might speculate whether the trio was just casually practicing moves or if GSP is training with Ferguson. ‘El Cucuy’ has a fight coming up against Beneil Dariush at UFC 262.

It can very well be an accidental meeting between the fan favorites or it could be a rendezvous. But there is no confirmation of the actual case as of yet.

St-Pierre is almost 40-years-old, and the Canadian legend hasn’t competed since his UFC 217 win over Michael Bisping. So, it’s unlikely he is training for a specific reason. The retired superstar is a lifelong disciple of the sport and still trains regularly despite not competing. So, it’s possible that he was just sharpening his arsenal.

Is Georges St-Pierre training with Tony Ferguson?

‘El Cucuy’ has a very important fight coming up, and Dariush won’t be a pushover for the legendary lightweight.

Also, Ferguson is on a skid at the moment, having dropped his last couple of bouts. A 5th round T/KO loss against Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 was followed by a lopsided decision loss against Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira at UFC 256.

However, Ferguson remains one of the finest on the UFC roster. His legacy in the lightweight division is mythical.

‘El Cucuy’ was on a 12-fight winning streak before his fall from grace. There is no doubt he will want to return to winning ways and prove a point about himself.

Training with ‘Rush‘ can certainly help him as GSP is one of the greatest ever to fight in the UFC. Maybe, he can give Ferguson the final pieces of the puzzle to finally become an undisputed UFC champion.

A win against Dariush will once again put him back in the mix of the elites. But a loss can really hamper Ferguson’s championship aspirations from ever materializing.
