UFC 287 is around the corner, and the featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, seems excited for his friend, Israel Adesanya. Ahead of the main event between Adesanya and Alex Pereira, Volkanovski made sure that he met with ‘The Last Stylebender’ and their coaches. Adesanya and Volkanovski are great friends and teammates. There were several situations when both stood up for each other. When ‘The Great’ was fighting against Islam Makhachev for the lightweight championship at UFC 284, Izzy made sure that he came to watch his teammate fight. When the Australian fighter lost the bout via decision, he was upset over his friend losing such a close bout.

The two have appeared together in some interviews as well. Volkanovski stood up for Adesanya when the MMA world complained about Adesanya’s fights being cold and uninspiring after his bout against Jared Cannonier at UFC 276. Furthermore, fans were not happy with the overly cautious approach of the Nigerian fighter. ‘The Great’ stood for his teammate and said that these allegations are absurd.

‘The Last Stylebender’ vs. ‘Poatan’ at UFC 287

At the moment, Israel Adesanya is training hard for a rematch against Alex Pereira inside the UFC octagon. The two will square off at UFC 287 on April 8th. It is expected that the two tough fighters will blow the roof off the Miami-Dade Arena. The bout would hopefully seal the longtime rivalry between the ‘Poatan’ and ‘the Last Stylebender’. The MMA world needs to wait patiently to find out if Adesanya can win back the middleweight belt.
