President Conor McGregor. How does that sound, for an instance? That is the word ‘The Notorious’ has put out over the news of the current switch in Ireland’s leadership. The current Prime Minister of Ireland, Michael Martin, has stepped down from the position and the Indian-origin leader, Leo Varadkar, will now fill in his shoes as the Taoiseach of Ireland. This will be his second run as the President of the country.

The UFC superstar, however, was not pleased with this news, and he embarked on a Twitter tirade to voice his opinions on this rotation of the Taoiseach role. McGregor has been against this decision and further claimed to consider running for the position himself someday in the future.

Conor McGregor disapproves of the change in Ireland’s leadership

As Ireland undergoes a leadership change, ‘The Notorious’ launched a series of tweets. Upon doing so, Conor McGregor even expressed his objection towards Leo Varadkar as the country’s new leader.

McGregor wrote, “My input is I have no issue with Michael Martin. I feel he is as likeable as it comes in the space. There is no malice in him. Varadkar, different. He should not be stepping in to lead our country. On the contrary, at present, he should be in hiding. What a strange time. Watching”

As he continued to voice his opposition to Vadarkar, the UFC superstar even said that he (Leo Varadkar) ought to be “hiding.”

Amidst the rant, McGregor also tweeted that he won’t be just sitting and this “nonsense” happening around him. And said that he might just take up the charge himself and run for the office.

“I may run for Áras an Uachtaráin. I am still too young to currently. But to sit and over see this nonsense, at a closer view, in a position where a response must be given, is interesting to me. Why not? There is not a single iota of accountability here with these people.” wrote the Dubliner.

The Irishman even asked his fans who they think would be a good candidate at the moment. And right after putting forth this question, “The Notorious” nominated himself for the position.

McGregor is ready for the Presidency

In the following twee, the Dubliner even said that he would consider running for President at some point in the future and that he believes he would be the best candidate. In addition, if elected, he wants to commit to the presidency for 8 years.

He wrote, “A 4 year term, or potentially 8 if revoted. I could easily commit fully to this sometime in the future. When eligible. Who knows, but know this. Who else?”

And considering the insane support he has from the people in Ireland and the fanbase he has amassed over the year, if McGregor actually considers running for the President, he could potentially get strong backing, too.
