The fallout from Conor McGregor’s recent social media rant continues to reverberate through the MMA community, with Sean O’Malley finding himself unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight. The UFC bantamweight champion was mentioned by the Irishman in a now-deleted tweet where he blasted boxer Ryan Garcia for recent reports of him testing positive for a banned substance after his win over Devin Haney.

In a fiery rant on X, McGregor had stated,…. Don’t come near me if I ever see you Ryan Garcia. I am actually disgusted. This ostarine it reminds me of Sean O’Malley was on that as well. I don’t like this, I’ll bust yous both up, do yous want a spar I will set flights right now for you both for a full on spar each.”

His comments against Sean O’Malley referred to the bantamweight champion’s past issues with testing positive for Ostarine, the same substance that Garcia was flagged for. In 2018 and 2019, O’Malley was suspended from competition in the UFC under USADA rules by the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission.

As such, in his response to McGregor, O’Malley fired back at ‘The Notorious’ and even claimed that he is siding with his opponent for UFC 303, Michael Chandler now! In a recent episode of the ‘TimboSugarShow’ podcast, he stated, “Yeah that’s crazy what Conor did… F**K Conor! F**k Conor man, “I seen a lot of people being like, ‘Damn, I bet Suga’s sad. Suga always talks nothing but great about Conor and he’s his f*cking idol…. I was more sad than mad. Now I cannot wait to see Michael Chandler absolutely just sleep him, I’m turning up. I’m changing up real quick, f*ck Conor.”

However, the fans online aren’t exactly pleased with the changes in O’Malley’s attitude toward Conor McGregor and they took to the comments to make their thoughts known on the situation! Here’s how the netizens reacted.

Others claimed that the comments may lead to O’Malley losing a large portion of his fanbase that also overlaps with Conor McGregor and as such, wouldn’t take kindly to the bantamweight champion’s statements.

“omalley just lost half of “his” fanbase”

While some pointed out the similarities in how O’Malley used McGregor’s ‘blueprint’ for his own rise in the UFC, but the recent social media tirade has soured ‘Sugar’s “love” for the Irishman.

“O’Malley from a Conor Wanna be has become a Hater it shows how much he loves Conor”

Fans also indicated their shock at the change in attitude by O’Malley which seemingly came out of nowhere.

“How quickly they turn”

However, others were quick to point out that ‘Sugar’s statements were made in jest and as such, should not be taken out of context.

“Out of context he was joking smh”

But others weren’t as gracious with their assessment as they claimed O’Malley’s response reminded them of the fallout between McGregor and his former friend turned foe, Artem Lobov.

“Traitor 2 da core. Just like Artem”

And one even highlighted the fact that McGregor’s assertion about O’Malley’s PED usage is unfounded as they claimed it was revealed that the Ostarine in the bantamweight champion’s system was detected at fairly low levels, indicating that it was a result of ‘tainted’ supplements.

“Not to glaze omalley whatsoever but it was proven that the levels of ostensible in his system were so low that it was a contaminated supplement and he wasn’t actually taking anything”

In conclusion, it appears that Sean O’Malley has found himself losing the battle for fan opinion with his response to Conor McGregor. As the dust settles, it remains to be seen whether McGregor and O’Malley can mend fences or if their ‘feud’ will continue to simmer beneath the surface in the future.
