Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje’s bout at UFC 268 won hearts. Chandler might have lost, but his performance in the octagon was well-appreciated by the spectators. While he lost a chance at the title bout, he definitely aspires to become the UFC lightweight champion and hence, has been training regularly.
In a recent interview with ESPM MMA, Chandler spoke about Ian Garry. Both the fighters have been training together and so, ‘Iron’ had many great things to say about the younger fighter. According to him, Garry is extremely confident and has the talent to become the world champion in a couple of years.

Chandler said, “Obviously, the talent is there, you know. His body type, his confidence in himself, the part of the world that he comes from. He’s a young, brash Irishman who does not lack confidence in any area of his life. And that’s something that I’m attracted to as well, even as a 35-year-old; a guy who’s been in the game for a decade longer than he has, I still try to remember myself as that young, hungry, nothing to lose kind of guy.”
He further stated, “I think his game has, is on a trajectory to the moon. I think he will be the world champion in the next couple of years; fighting for a world title in the next couple of years.”

Training alongside a much-experienced fighter will surely help ‘The Future’ gain a lot more skills and knowledge. The welterweight fighter has had just one fight in the UFC, which he won through a T/KO. It would be interesting to see if Ian Garry will be able to keep his undefeated MMA record for a long time.
