In addition to that, he lost the fight as well. However, Costa gained some momentum with his recent win over veteran middleweight Luke Rockhold at UFC 278. Costa comfortably made weight and put on an absolute slugfest against Rockhold.

Paulo Costa now has his sights on a middleweight showdown with the unrelenting Khamzat Chimaev. Costa was openly supporting Diaz in his fight against Chimaev before the fight got canceled. Both Chimaev and Costa exchanged verbal jabs. With Chimaev missing weight for UFC 279, many feel he should make a return at middleweight in his next bout.
