After years of inactivity, Nick Diaz was set to make his comeback to the MMA world with a fight against Vicente Luque at UFC 310. Both Nick and Luque were preparing for their battle; however, it seems that things have started to take a turn for the worse for the former Strikeforce champion. A viral video on the internet had raised serious concerns within the MMA community, including promoters and stakeholders.

Themba Gorimbo is ready to take on Vincente Luque at UFC 310

The promotion is looking to replace Nick Diaz with another fighter and it appears that they have got their answer even before looking drastically for it. While having a conversation with MMAFighting, Themba Gorimbo has ascertained that he is ready to step in to replace Nick Diaz on short notice. “I am here in Las Vegas right now preparing as if I am fighting on the 7th of December against Vicente Luque,” said Gorimbo.

He further added, “If it so happens that Diaz doesn’t show up to the party, I’m here and I’m ready. Vice versa, if Luque does not want to show up to the party, I will show up and fight Diaz. That’s where I am standing right now and that’s the fight I am looking at. When I left Miami, I said ‘Tell Vicente Luque, I’ll be waiting for him in Vegas. If it so happens that way, I’ll be waiting. We’re going to have a fun fight. I respect him, It’s a tough fight. He has been in the UFC for a very long time, he has paid his dues. I am the new guy on the block but we are similar in age.”

Leaving his family in Florida to return to Las Vegas without a concrete assurance of a fight may seem like an unusual move for Gorimbo, but it ultimately shows he’s placing a bet on himself. Regardless, what’s your take on the situation? Will Nick Diaz ever return to the Octagon ever again? Here’s hoping ‘the General’ is back to lead the Nick Diaz army in good health soon.
