Colby Covington just can’t catch a break. First, he trash-talked Leon Edwards just to lose to him via unanimous decision. Second, an audience that once cheered for him booed him as the camera panned to him. And if all of that wasn’t enough, Donald Trump, his idol, cringed at his speech and walked out on him. Now, perhaps similar things are happening again.

Everyone welcomed 2024 with a bit of excitement and hopefully a dash of hope. Covington welcomed it by getting thrashed online. The welterweight fighter hasn’t had the best year so far. Will 2024 be any different for him? Here’s what happened.

Colby Covington still loves Trump

It would appear that ‘Chaos’ and his relationship with Donald Trump isn’t so bad. Even though Trump wasted no time exiting the venue after Covington’s loss, an invite for him was still awaiting at Mar-a-lago. Covington quickly went to the Trump residence to celebrate the coming year.

He posed with several people and the pictures were shared on his Instagram stories. However, a picture with Donald Trump himself had to take center stage. For that, he posted the picture on his Instagram feed with the caption “Happy New Year from Mar-a-Lago 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 @realdonaldtrump”.

So, are things okay with the two? Perhaps Trump has forgiven him for his devastating loss against Edwards. The loss wasn’t terrifying in the essence that Covington got dominated and knocked out. However, it was overpowering because Covington spoke up a big game just to lose.

Now, fans are at it again. His being booed was clearly something he took notice to. He called out the entire audience in his post-fight interview as Trump walked out on him. Covington is clearly not the one to shy away from saying what he wants. But, to their credit, the UFC fandom is pretty similar.

Fans bash Covington on Instagram

Both UFC and Trump fans came together to give Colby Covington a piece of their mind. They were upset and disappointed in his performance at UFC 296. Now, Covington has lost every single title opportunity he has received in the last couple of years. Fans aren’t happy with him roaming around with their favorite former president.

“he doesn’t like you”

“Embarrassed us in front of the president”

While some spoke for the former president, others claimed Covington was just a sad case.

Yet others told ‘Chaos’ how Trump really felt.

“He’s just not that into you bro.”

“Trump is crying inside”

To make matters worse, others felt that Trump didn’t event recognize Covington.

“Trump thought it was one of his waiters he was posing with”

Finally, one fan reminded him what Trump did after his last fight.

“The guy walked out ya post fight interview…..”

Looks like it’s a stormy start to the new year for Colby Covington. However, the fighter is known for his cardio and pacing. Will he pace right back into the Octagon with a new fight waiting for him? ‘Chaos’ is certainly a fighter that brings in the views. However, he risks being hated for the same. Is this a worthy trade to make? The numbers may be happy with him but are the fans going to remain so too?
