Brandon Moreno became the UFC Flyweight champion at the UFC 263 event. ‘The Assassin Baby’ defeated Deiveson Figueiredo via a 3rd round submission. This victory was very important for Moreno as he became the first Mexican-born UFC champion.

The fight between Moreno and Figueiredo was the second between the two fighters. Earlier Moreno had challenged for the title at the UFC 256 event. However, as that fight had ended in a draw, the title had remained with Figueiredo. The UFC 256 fight between the two fighters was one of the best of the year. Therefore, many expected the rematch to live up to the same, and it did.

The fight might have ended in the 3rd round, but till then it was a treat to watch. Everyone applauded Moreno for an incredible performance and getting the victory. However, The UFC Flyweight champion believes he had won the fight even before they stepped into the cage.

Recently during an interview, Moreno said, ” Actually, it was my first press conference in life, you know, with all these people. A lot of Mexican people there in Pheonix and I fought in Pheonix before, so people know me there in Pheonix.”

“Definitely, Arizona has a special place in my heat. Man, that press conference, actually I won, I really believe I won the fight there you know. I saw Deiveson; I don’t know different. With keeping his sunglasses and trying to distract himself, pushing me. That was, I think, trying so hard to be the bad guy, that wasn’t necessary. And me, I enjoy every single moment of that press conference.”
