Conor McGregor puts Landon Quinones to the test

Ahead of the fight against veteran Jason Knight, ‘Notorious’ decided to put his prospect to the test. He decided to get into a sparring session with Landon Quinones and roughed up the 27-year-old. The Irishman landed a serious body kick that drilled Quinones and it send him right down to the canvas. He was in pain as Conor McGregor encouraged him to fight through that feeling and complete the sparring session.

When the scene cut to Landon Quinones, he explained what training was while sparring with Conor McGregor. He said, “It hit me right in the liver, kind of shut me down for a bit.” The 27-year-old claims to have learned a valuable lesson about himself when he stepped up to the former double champion. He added, “I feel I am going to take that [what he learned] with me and it’s going to make me so much better.”

Team McGregor loses the seventh fight in a row

Coming into the fight, Team Chandler’s Jason Knight met with an unexpected injury during a training session with teammate Timur Valiev. He suffered a cut, following which Michael Chandler took him to the UFC physician, Dr. Jeffrey Davidson. However, that didn’t prove to be a big problem for the lightweight veteran. Meanwhile, even with a rough sparring session with Conor McGregor, Landon Quinones could not overcome Jason Knight.

When the time for the fight approached, Knight and Quinones exchanged a few strikes early on in the first round. Knight progressed forward, delivering a barrage of strikes. Quinones tied Knight against the fence and transitioned to the ground.

Moreover, Knight attempted an armbar, which Quinones managed to avoid. However, Knight quickly locks Quinones into a triangle choke that ultimately forced the prospect to tap out. Conor McGregor was clearly disappointed with the result.

Michael Chandler is clearly eyeing a clean sweep to become the first-ever TUF coach to achieve that feat. It will also put Conor McGregor out of the show since all the fighters on his team will be eliminated. If the show witnesses a clean sweep, the participants from Team Chandler will be asked if they would make a change and take up McGregor as their coach. We will have to wait and see how that turns out.
