Do you know when Joe Rogan became an integral part of the promotion? Well, it was 1997, when the color commentator took on the role of play-by-play analyst and commentator. When you’ve been with a promotion for more than three decades, you inevitably become an irreplaceable part of it. That’s exactly what Joe Rogan’s commentary brings to the UFC. His presence in the commentary booth alongside Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier raises the standard of the sport. For Anik, it’s a lifelong dream to work with a living legend.

I was freaking out, but I stepped up and called that pay-per-view about a year into my time with the company. I’ll never forget the extent to which he embraced me then. He’s just such an elite human being. That says nothing of all the work he has done and the renaissance man that he is.”

He further added, “It’s never lost on me when I look to my right, and he is there. To have earned his respect—not even the hard way, per se—but to have earned it has meant a great deal to me. His praise has had such a huge impact on my career and my public approval rating, and I think it has influenced the way the UFC feels about me as well. I just have eternal gratitude to Joe. Yeah, I’ve worked with probably 17 or 18 different broadcast combinations, but I do crave one broadcast team.”

The time when Joe Rogan praises Jon Anik for his commentary skills

While conversing with Daniel Cormier on ‘JRE MMAShow #150″, the duo emphasized the importance of Anik at the commentary table. The former dual-weight champion of the world explained that he is grateful to have worked alongside Rogan and Anik. With the conversation shifting towards Jon Anik, Cormier praised him, “Jon Anik is a cool guy,” said the former UFC heavyweight champion.

He further added, “Like, Jon Anik’s a cool guy; he’s the best bro ever. Sometimes we’re literally just talking, and then Jon’s like, “This fight is brought to you by Toyo Tires,” and he’s like, “All right, go ahead, boys, do the real work.” We go on tangents, and then Jon’s like, “All right, back to you, boys. Its the best man.”

Rogan chimed in to offer his own perspective, “I look forward to it so much. We do commentary every single show, every single show. We, like, have the best vibe. The three of us.” It has been approximately a year since Rogan revealed that he would love to have a conversation with both Cormier and Anik on the JRE. Nevertheless, it still hasn’t happened.
