The middleweight champion, Dricus du Plessis, has started his training for his second title defense in a rematch against Sean Strickland at UFC 312. However, there’s still some time for the pay-per-view, and so ‘Stillknocks’ decided to have some fun on the beach. While he shared a few snaps of his time out near the sea on social media, the South African star took an unexpected jibe at fellow middleweight star, Khamzat Chimaev.

Du Plessis recently shared a few images of wrangling a sizable shark on his social media handles while he was enjoying his time at Oyster Bay in the Eastern Cape. Thereafter, a fan would jokingly suggest ‘Stillknocks’ not to “kiss” the shark, which prompted a response from the middleweight champion in which he took a jibe at Khamzat Chimaev regarding his facial scar.

Claiming that he doesn’t want to end up like the Chechnya-born fighter, Du Plessis responded by declaring, “That’s what Khamzat tried and look how that turned out.” Chimaev would quickly fire back with a witty jibe at the South African star by referencing the pictures he shared with the shark. “2 dead fish in one photo [laughing emojis],” commented ‘Borz’.

However, this isn’t the first time that the two 185’ers have taken shots at each other. Previously, Khamzat Chimaev had some incendiary things to say about Dricus Du Plessis, and the South African star responded. Let’s take a look at that front.

Dricus Du Plessis also had a heated exchange with Chimaev a few months ago

A few months ago, Khamzat Chimaev and Darren Till went live on social media, talking about Dricus du Plessis’ title reign. While ‘Borz’ extended a questionable remark about his personality, he claimed that ‘Stillknocks’ wasn’t a normal human being. “This g** who have the belt man, is not normal,” said Chimaev. However, the South African was not one to back down from returning the favor.

‘Stillknocks’ hit back at Chimaev where it might have hurt ‘Borz’ the most. For the last couple of years, Chimaev hasn’t been as active as most of the other fighters on the roster, and the reigning middleweight champion used that fact to his advantage. “You just focus on trying to make it to a fight, any fight,” Du Plessis responded to Chimaev on social media.

There is a real possibility that Dricus du Plessis will fight Khamzat Chimaev if he successfully defends his crown against Sean Strickland at UFC 312. But for now, we might just get to see them battle online. What do you have to say about these two stars taking shots at each other? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
