Vitor Petrino continued his undefeated streak in his UFC Fight Night Vegas 238 fight against Tyson Pedro, winning their light heavyweight bout via unanimous decision. Coming into the fight, Petrino felt their fight had the potential to be the Fight of the Night.

However, their bout failed to live up to his promise and was largely uneventful. The most significant moment of the bout came after their fight had ended when Tyson Pedro announced his retirement from the sport.

The first round opened with a flurry of leg kicks. The second round didn’t see much action, as even the referee told the pair to get on with the action. Petrino heeded the advice and threw a series of potentially fight-ending high-kicks.

The third round saw Petrino change tactics and try to grapple with Pedro, and the two men spent the majority of the round grappling with each other, with Petrino in control. The fight was scored unanimously in Petrino’s favor, whose performance failed to impress fans.

After the decision was read out, Tyson Pedro told Daniel Cormier in the post-fight Octagon interview that he would be hanging up his gloves. “Thank you to all fans, I wanted to say thank you very much to the UFC for everything they’ve done on this journey. Specially thanks to my team, anyone that helped me get to this point in my martial a career… Its not goodbye its just see you later,” Pedro said as reactions poured in from the MMA world.
