However, even five rounds, 25 minutes, months of build-up, and trash talk doesn’t seem to be enough for Jorge Masvidal, who laid out a challenge to ‘Chaos’.
The BMF has cited certain broken rules, particularly the one where Covington poked his eye and received a stern warning.

Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington have fought, but their rivalry is far from over
Calling out a fighter and saying he’ll see him soon seems to be insinuating a return. Or is it? Close fights are usually lined up for rematches to see if things would be any different if a particular moment didn’t happen. However, in this pair’s case, the decision was crystal clear, with there being absolutely no doubt about the winner.

Even after five rounds of great action, the pair still traded words. Hence, their rivalry is far from over. Who knows, if Masvidal improves his wrestling drastically, he might be able to take on Covington a lot better. After all, Masvidal also had his moments during the fight.

The next step for both fighters is largely unclear. Covington, still being the second-best welterweight, might have to beat another top-ranked welterweight to get on a title shot path towards Kamaru Usman once more.
Despite just signing a new deal with the UFC, Masvidal might not have too many options for good fights within the division. Hopefully, a good fighter within the ranks steps up to take him up for baptism soon enough.
