Renato Moicano is set to return this weekend against Rafael Fiziev and make his second appearance of 2020. Moicano got back to the win column after a two-fight skid when he defeated Damir Hadzovic back in April. As for Rafael Fiziev, it will also be his fourth appearance inside the octagon, after he defeated Marc Diakiese back in July. Ahead of this exciting lightweight bout in the prelims of UFC 256, we take a look at the stats of both fighters.

Moicano has a professional record of 14-3, with all 3 of his losses coming in the UFC. He has gathered up 7 wins too during his time in the promotion. The Brazilian is a slick submission expert and has an excellent ground game. 7 of his 14 wins have come via submission.
He has already defeated some of the division’s elites in Calvin Kattar, Cub Swanson, Jeremy Stephens, Zubaira Tukhugov, and some others. Back-to-back knockout losses to Chan Sung Jung and Jose Aldo dropped his stock a bit, but Moicano is back in the win column after his win over Hadzovic earlier this year.

As for Rafael Fiziev, this will be only his fourth UFC appearance, and he has a tough opponent against him. Fiziev lost in his UFC debut in 2019. Since then he has gathered up two decision wins. His primary strength is his striking for sure as the Kyrgyzstan born fighter has 5 TKO wins out of his 8. His professional record now stands at 8-1.
Stylistically, this is a fun match-up. One loves to strike, and the other is a submission expert. So, needless to say, where both of them would like the fight to go. Fiziev will be looking to keep Mpicano standing, and Moicano will look to get his opponent on the mat somehow and eventually submit him.
It’s a question of who can impose their will and skillset on the other. But Moicano is a UFC veteran, who has much more experience than his counterpart. That might play a handy role in this fight.
