This weekend’s UFC 262 will see an exciting bantamweight clash between Matt Schnell and Rogerio Bontorin go down on the main card. Both fighters are actually flyweights. However, they will be fighting at the 135lbs division this weekend.

The American Top Team member, Schnell, is coming off a split decision win over Tyson Nam in January. Losses to Rob Font and Hector Sandoval gave Schnell an unwanted start to his UFC career. Bontorin, on the other hand, was knocked out by Kai Kara France at UFC 259 in March. Prior to that, he dropped a decision against Ray Borg. The Dana White’s Contender Series alumni (16-3), who holds a promotional record of 2-2, has registered 14 (3 T/KO and 11 submissions) finishes.

Considering Bontorin’s last fight result, it’s bizarre to see him back in action before Kara France. However, it will intrigue UFC fans to see if it was a smart decision by Bontorin‘s team.

The Brazilian has a superb submission game. His 11 wins by submission are a testament to the same. But Schnell, who is a master of the ground game, will not be a sitting duck. His submission wins against top fighters like Smolka and Espinosa prove that.
